Just a few years ago on a cruise we stopped at Istanbul and visited the Grand Bazaar and then the Great Mosque in the center of that city... I went to the men's room inside that mosque and there were only holes in the floor and no toilet paper, also no doors for privacy, just holes in the floor in an open room that stunk to high hell... You squat and crap, and then you use a stick with a small filthy sponge at the end of that stick, that stick with shit all over it was sitting in a can half filled with filthy water... Yes, you would think an international tourist place like the Grand Mosque would be more modern than something you might find back in the 1200's... The whole room smelled like a cess pool... No, I didn't use it, I went back to the ship, it was on a cruise, I couldn't wait until that later afternoon when we finally left that port... WTF??? Turkey is one of our NATO allies, you would think a shit hole like that would modernize their toilets... GZ
