Re <<my sense is from your post that you have little sympathy toward Ukraine, which sadden me>>
Now I know you have misread my posts, any and all of them, because I have the utmost sympathy for Ukrainians, as I do for the Palestinians, and Rohingya people in Burma, and and and, and am exceedingly angry that the Ukrainian leadership together w/ their foreign allies did a rug-pull on the Ukrainians, by encouraging Ukrainians to believe they could / would join Nato, and now, set up to in effect fend for self by self.
Team USA, personified by ‘f*ck the EU’ Nuland, now reporting to Blinken, who in turn reports to POTUS, did the unspeakable to Ukraine. I expected Putin / Russia to do what Putin / Russia did, because that is what Russia does, historically. Tragic that Team USA / Nato, having done Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Iraq, Libya, and most recently Afghanistan, now did Ukraine. All the initial moves were arguably mistakes. Betrayal just made the mistakes much worse.
My memory of history might not be perfect, but am passable on current events, say Afghanistan.
On the the cusp and soonest after Putin’s troops went into the Ukraines, I remember Team USA promising one thing, not a surprise, and arguably best for Team America, which I can see the sense of, that there would be ‘no boots on the ground’ in the Ukraines.
My beef is not that Team USA is not sending boots with bodies attached, because am agnostic on how wise that move would be, IOW I do not know, but to lead the Ukrainians to believe that their security was guaranteed in exchange for giving up their nukes, unspeakably evil.
IOW, of the successive leaderships involved in the Ukrainian tragedy within all domains having a hand in the fate of Ukraine, no clean shirts, just a bunch of azz-wipes.
Amazingly, the azz-wipes, as a group, wants the world to choose which azz-wipe side to join. Astounding.
So, yes, I have sympathy for the Ukraines, that it is being attacked by Russia.
But, according to you, and I do not disagree, Russia attacks. No surprise.
Tragic that others betrayed the Ukraines. That is the true sadness event.
However, and a big one, should Nato actually engage Russia over Ukraines, I am guessing it would be a blunder.
Mistaken war is one thing, chalk it up to stupidity or blame it on evil. Deliberate betrayal is at another and higher level of evil, that is not to be chalked up as mistake. |
