Giving up "their" nukes? to lead the Ukrainians to believe that their security was guaranteed in exchange for giving up their nukes, unspeakably evil.
When USA stashes nukes hither and yon around the world, such as on Okinawa, in Europe, England etc etc many many bases, ready to launch whenever DementiaJoe10% gives the word, or Milley decides it's instant reaction time, or Dr Strangelove goes postal on his own, that doesn't mean the local yokels who live in said country "own" the USA's WMDs. If USA collapsed and broke up into little states, that would not mean that Japan gets to take over USA atomic bombs in their country. Same for all over the world. Depending on who leans on whom and what settles out of the disruption.
Similarly, Ukraine did not "own" the atomic bomb weaponry located iin Ukraine during USSR times, and Crimeas was put in Ukraine as an administrative political move by Khrushchev long ago without any thought that USSR would bust up into little bits and that Crimea would automatically become Crimean due to said piece of paper by which he moved it to Kievan country.
Not really unspeakably evil. Bush, Clinton and co dealt with USSR failure by agreeing that atomic bombs would best be concentrated in one place. Ukes were busy with their local corrupt political opportunities, as were Russians, and atomic bombs were of no use since they didn't have control of them anyway.
The unspeakable evil really got going north of the Black Sea when Nuland and co-conspirators Peace Prize Obama, BigGuyBiden10%, Hunter, Nuland et al conspiried to fund and create carnage and coup in Kiev, with a view to, of course, obviously, canceling Russia's lease in Sevastopol, arranging much looting, bribery and corruption, pay for play and quid pro quo to Hunter and other profiteers, while continuing the NATO/USA approaches and sanctions and preparations for conquest of Russia.
The speakable evil is that nuclear war is about to begin because the unspeakably evil USA does not have a hearing function, with arrogant output only, with mobs baying for Russian blood. I think Putin/Russia are going to have to, sooner rather than later, go nuclear in a combination scaling up, warning, mind-clearing demonstration of just exactly where the USA's mad onslaught is taking us.
Amazingly, our Dear Leader, Comrade Jacinda [and Klaus Schwab gangsters Zelensky, Justin Castro etc], has sent a nominal Aotearoa-Zimbabwe military group to help with logistics in the vicinity of Ukraine, thereby ensuring NZ becomes targeted with atomic bombs. Maybe early in the piece because Vlad could kill a USA poodle to show how serious he is, and that he can do it anywhere, including at the other end of the Earth. That would be a safe way to give a serious message. And richly ironical too given NZ's anti-nuclear laws which ban atomic weaponry or power generation from Aotearoa-Zimbabwe.
