I thought you had a hybrid. It gets maybe 45mpg on highway driving, I assume. A bit less gas, but all the other cost per mile things apply (depreciation, insurance, maintenance, tires).

If you look at it from a pure accounting standpoint, then you'd apply only the variable costs to the trip, which might bring it down to $0.25/mile (fuel, maintenance, tires).

That makes the eggs a more reasonable $4.40/doz.
