Couple of quick thoughts…. Shmychal doesn’t sound like his side is winning the war. The excuse seems to be that you can’t “win” a war against a nuclear power. He has a point - except that the war is conventional. Would be nice to keep it this way.

Why is it relevant how he sounds? Because it’s almost impossible to figure out how the war is progressing based on published information. Both sides try to create an impression that the war is practically over - in THEIR favor.

A funny question - “does the US administration want you to fight to a stalemate - or to actually win?” Sounds kind of like - what are your marching orders?

Why are there civilians in Azovsteel complex? The Russian side, I believe, complained that the defenders would not let them leave - in order to be used as human shields.

The man seems smarter than his boss. Reacts quickly. Smooth. But, of course, the boss makes a more dramatic appearance.

The request to use the frozen Russian assets to pay for help and restoration is a smooth idea. Our politicians will like it. Don’t expect any kind of transparent accountability; it will be a feeding frenzy, I’m afraid. But, no doubt, at least part would be spent as intended. The cost to the US, among other things - more damage to the status of the USD as a reserve currency. Likely, another win for China.
