I doubt they’re better off. The world is incredibly integrated these days. I read that the internet service in parts of Russia has slowed down - they need to replace some servers, but have no access to the markets where they can be purchased.

China is a several times larger economy - and even they had difficulties after Trump’s tariffs and sanctions. Apparently, they had to hire an army of electronic engineers - about 50.000 from Taiwan alone - to develop an entire industry of super-sophisticated chips, which they could no longer buy from the US or from anyone else using US manufacturing machinery.
