Henry - Re: "Paul, when will L2 cache running at CPU speed ?"

This will "officially" happen on APril 15, 1998.

Intel will announce the Deschutes version of the Pentium II in a Slot 2 cartridge which will also contain L2 SRAM chips manufactured by Intel that run at full processor speed. Initially these will run at 350 MHz and 400 MHz.

Intel last week gave 2 papers at the ISSCC conference describing the Deschutes chip and the new SRAM chips that will run at speeds of 450 MHz.

The 440BX chip set will be rolled out at the same time, boosting system performance (over and above the 350/400 MHz CPU Speed) by enabling 100 MHz system bus speeds along with 100 MHz SDRAM main memory access times.
