Actually, that sentence was my focus. Pitbulls, having much better temperament and lower aggression than the average dog, are much better suited to most families.

The problem is that the average family does not own a pitbull. It's mostly (though not exclusively) macho aggressive people with poor dog handling skills that go after owning them. You are getting the cause and effect backward.
