What Big Oil never wanted it should be known, lnkd.in Europe as described in my comment to this post actually has tremendous geothermal energy deposits, for no better name. The deep geothermal energy under the European continent can deliver energy independence to Europe. It took an energy crisis and a horrible war for the Europeans to think twice.
As the proposals to ban the import of Russian oil and start a rapid diversification from Russian gas are still the subject of a heated debate in many European capitals a closer review of the geothermal potential of delivering energy to Europe should be re-evaluated. However, after only two months of the barbaric Russian invasion of Ukraine, the nexus between global security and local access to sufficient resources of green, renewable energy has been quickly understood by politicians and their constituents alike.
The transition from fossil fuels to clean and sustainable energy sources has found a way how to capture the imagination of not only climate visionaries but also the general public by offering a path toward energy independence – soon a new name for all renewable energy policies and initiatives. - and there is more
