My best chum once in fabulous health has gone through something similar, months of grueling cancer treatment including stem cell replacement, as well as three of my wife's close friends. They are doubting the narrative now, after major cancer, multiple sclerosis flareups, why now after their booster vax shots?
They thought they were doing their part as their government asked them to do, take the shot to stop the spread.
Plus three out of four caught covid anyway. The other is terrified, in house isolation.
The true believers giggles and his friends, will pooh pooh it all away, the filthy grimey nazi people that they are, the next cycle will not be kind to them.
