NEWS: Fibre Channel Infrastructure Demonstration in Conjunction With Server I/O Conference
DUBLIN, Calif., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelliguard Software, Inc., a leader in standards-based network-attached storage management solutions, along with ATL (Nasdaq: ATLPA), Crossroads Systems and Gadzoox Networks today announced a jointly developed, state-of-the-art backup and recovery solution with Fibre Channel attached tape libraries which was demonstrated at the Server I/O Conference in Sunnyvale, Calif.
At Server I/O, Intelliguard demonstrated its BudTool storage management software backing up a Solaris-based server (Sun Microsystems Ultra 1), plus a Windows NT server through NDMP both with Fibre Channel host adapters, connected to a Gadzoox hub through a Crossroads Systems' Crosspoint 4100 Storage Router to an ATL DLT P1000 library. This new infrastructure serves as a single standard for networking, storage and high-speed data transfer.
The demonstration of the industry's first multi-platform storage management functionality over a Fibre Channel infrastructure is another in a long line of "Industry Firsts" pioneered by Intelliguard.
"The impact of Fibre Channel will revolutionize data protection and availability through its speed and ability to support distances," said Don Trimmer, Intelliguard co-founder. "Intelliguard's next generation data protection and business continuation software incorporating Fibre Channel capability provides more ease of mind to our customers relying on fast, easy and accessible backup and restore capabilities."
Intelliguard's software products are optimized for today's high-speed networked storage environments to provide backup and to restore services for both local servers and multiple networked hosts and tape libraries.
"The Fibre Channel back-up demonstration proves there is a high performance alternative to current network technology," said Chet Baffa, vice president of marketing and sales for ATL products. "Fibre Channel connectivity to tape libraries has become a reality."
"We believe the intelligent use of Fibre Channel technology, as demonstrated by Crossroads Systems, ATL, Gadzoox and Intelliguard, will provide customers optimized high-speed, centralized backup," said Marc Farley, director of strategic marketing for Crossroads Systems.
"The purpose of the Server I/O Conference is to bring together technology leaders in the storage management field," said Michael Peterson, president of Strategic Research, a high technology consulting firm based in Santa Barbara, Calif. "It was gratifying to have such a well-planned, executed and received demonstration as the one put on by Intelliguard, ATL, Crossroads and Gadzoox."
