Therein lies the foundation of much of our disagreement. I don’t believe Putin, it appears that you do.

It also highlights the difference between an open western press, and a closed one. It would be difficult to hide large weapons procurements and the distribution of those weapons in the west, as compared to Russia.

Russia sends arms to countries the world over, with no care how they are used. From their support in Vietnam, Cambodia, Serbia and more. They support Dictators the world over. One could argue their vast shipments of military equipment to Africa have caused decades of instability.

The notion that America would use nucs in this day and age if they were loosing an invasion is preposterous. Did we use nucs when Russia supported our adversary in Vietnam? In Cambodia, in Korea etc? We invented nucs and only used them to end a terrible war from a country that invaded the United States. No doubt if a nation like Russia, had invented them first, the world would be a far more hostile place to live.

The day we let Russia threatening nuclear annihilation determine American policy is the day the world returns to the dark ages.

Yes, they have big and powerful nuclear weapons. So do 8 other countries. But only one of those countries is brazenly threatening their use. Only one of those countries thinks their nuclear arsenal is part of a recipe for victory, when their city destroying sad looking WWII era military invasion is struggling.

Russia should just leave, save the lives of all those young Russian men dying for a stupid cause and consider themselves fortunate. Maybe in a decade or two they will recover a sense of respect to join the civilized free trading nations of the world again.

The reality is, they have weakened themselves with this invasion of a sovereign country and their thirst for expansion and control of energy resources.
