At that time, they were just switching from old pesos to nuevo pesos. I hope inflation never gets so bad here that we have to do that. Not even any pennies in use in Canada any more, is what I heard.
Friend of mine lived in PV when they devalued the Peso. A number of expats there had their Money in the bank in Pesos rather than dollars. They got creamed.
