I have little doubt that the Russians knew, especially when the "Collective West's" Sycophantic MSM have, Obligingly, been pumping out Propaganda Crap as to what THEY want the "Peoples of the West" to believe is going on in Ukraine when, in fact, the REALITIES are FAR DIFFERENT.
For example, the final NEO-NAZI AZOV stronghold in the AZOVSTAL steelworks in Mariupol is about to fall to Russian/Chechen forces.
And all that recent death and mayhem could have been avoided because Russia informed those AZOV NAZIS, on SEVERAL OCCASIONS, that if their "soldiers" laid down their weapons and surrendered they would be allowed to leave unharmed. And, most certainly, any civilians who wanted to leave would certainly be allowed to do so.
...... BUT, those AZOV NAZIS have prevented civilians from leaving the AZOVSTAL steelworks because it just all adds to their "PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN" about those "terrible(?)" Russians.
And with regard to your montage of "People Defending The Ukraine Gov't", I believe they left out the photo of this F***ING B*TCH, Victoria Nuland, who has been one of those INSTRUMENTAL in directing US Foreign "Policy(?)" for Ukraine, including her "behind the scenes" orchestration/assistance of the ILLEGAL COUP in Ukraine in 2014 which saw the overthrow of the Legitimately Elected President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych --------->
