For most people who are still building a nest egg, dollar cost averaging is a good, disciplined approach.

Over time, it keeps you in the market and gets investors good, averaged buys.

However, it needs to be steady and not vary. Nearly all people are poor market timers, so taking a plan and executing it every week/month will yield better results.
