Yes. Nothing short of a European war was needed to unite American politicians on at least this one subject. Aside from that the US is a deeply divided nation. In my inconsequential and humble opinion the American political system is deeply flawed. Voters have two options. Left or right while leaving out a huge number of voters who favour neither. Most democratic countries have a multi-party setup which encourages dialog and "meeting in the middle".
