Absolutely, that’s a big reason why I support getting out of NATO and bringing all our troops based in Europe home. Eventually, this or another conflict is going to trigger article 5.

In the meantime, with non-NATO countries like Ukraine, votes on assistance were held in Congress. The members who represent America voted 417-10 in the House and 100-0 in the Senate to support Ukraine via the Ukraine Defense Lend-Lease Act. The legislation was introduced by Republican John Cronyn. Rarely has an act garnered so much bi-partisan support.

Another much larger package is being debated now. I think we should let Europeans deal with Europe and the crazy Russians.

That has nothing to do with whether Ukraine should continue the fight, or acquiesce to Russia surrender demands from fear of nuclear weapons employment if they think they are losing the war. If they want to fight to the death for every square foot of Ukranian territory, that’s up to them. Good on them, make the invader pay. If Russia loses, great, if they win, it sets another terrible precedent that we will have to live with, especially if we are in NATO and have 100 thousand troops stationed in Europe.

We should also bring home the 50K troops stationed in Japan.
