Yes, leadership matters when it comes to the way foreign policy is addressed - the framers set it up that way.

I have little doubt none of this would be happening if Trump were sitting in the Oval Office. His unpredictable nature, coupled with his uncanny way of making deals would have jumped all over this during the Russian buildup phase. Trump may have jumped on a plane, and had a Kyiv summit with Putin to settle it before it even started. The Biden strategic blunders during that period will go down in history as just what not to do and say.

Interesting, the survey results showed a few people answering with “Biden is President”. Probably more close to the root cause of the invasion than we would like to believe.

I really wish getting out of NATO had more traction and was taken more seriously. America gets nothing from this relationship 75+ years after WWII. The European collective economy is as large as America’s, therefore they should be able to take care of themselves when it comes to common defense. The amount of money we spend to defend Europe from themselves could rebuild every city in America. Or better yet, help reduce the massive debt.
