mr aloha,

there are very good fundamental reasons for any buyback. very large and cash rich companies like ibm and gm often do it. the reason is they believe the market is undervaluing their stock and it will earn higher returns than alternative investments.

if the regulators thought the price was being manipulated by the management, they would put a stop to that.

your cynical views on buybacks are misplaced. the cymi problems lie elsewhere. you sound like a bitter investor who got caught near the 52 week high of 49 1/4. this also was the 2 year high during an unprecedented period of the 1977 fall excitement about the chip making technology.

fashion is a funny and fickle thing.
