Except that when he says "republicans" he means republicans now. And let's face it, being a republican is like being a Nazi- it's a choice you make, every day, to be that. It's not like color or gayness, which you are born with- and let's be honest, religion, which is a belief system you are born into often- most kids revert to childhood religions unless they marry into another faith or become atheists or agnostics.
