They are about to die in nuclear war conflagration but they still can't think. They believe their own group think like Heavens Gate cult, Jim Jones crowd, all sorts. It looks like the same mechanism as Stockholm Syndrome.
Groupthink is an essential tribal survival mechanism for individuals within the group. Individuals who step away or defy, or merely disagree, will be put beyond the pale, excommunicated or executed.
You can see it right here .... there's no reasoning by the Groupthinkers. Sure, they use words, form grammatically correct sentences, even make self-referential logical loops, but it's not reasoning that covers the whole situation.
I've given up reasoning with them. They are set, as people were with the ramp up to WWI, and are unable to turn away.
Looks as though the preppers were right.
Russia cannot even slightly hold the line with conventional war against USA/NATO so they are either willing to surrender unconditionally, be disarmed, broken up, and occupied by NATO as far into Siberia as China gets to, or they go MAD.
I guess they'll go MAD rather than allow the USA Empire, Barbarossa Boris, Liz Truss 'em up, and Herr Gruppenfuhrer Stoltenberg, Ursula von der Kraut, Klaus Schwab and Germany to take over.
The escalation process could be just a few atomic bombs, or major city scale, or the whole lot.
Maybe Russia will collapse and surrender. I doubt it.
