Highlights of the News

ITEM 1: The Epoch Times reported, "Food supply shortages hit a record high in April, as the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict continues to impact worldwide food exports, data from S&P Global published on Monday suggested.

"According to the survey, manufacturers worldwide reported sustained price and supply pressures during the last month, while the Global Supply Shortages Index signaled that shortages were just under seven times higher than the normal level, unchanged from March’s four-month high."

This is deliberate.

They shut down farms over covid. They shut down fertilizer purchases from Russia. They jacked up diesel prices to deliver goods.

ITEM 2: The Daily Dot reported, "A salad packaging plant in Salinas, California is destroyed in a massive fire, while at almost the exact same time, an onion processing plant in Texas is engulfed in flames.

"Planes nosedive into the heart of food processing plants in Georgia and Idaho. A warehouse with 50,000 pounds of food burns, as well as an animal feed mill, a cereal processing plant, and a meat packing plant.

"All of them alit, taking America’s precious food supply with them.

"Is it mere coincidence? Just some bad things happening at the same time? Or is it a sinister plot to starve the United States and cull the herd of useless eaters?

"People who assume that nothing happens by accident believe the latter. And they’re spreading an emerging conspiracy theory that food processing plants around the country are being burned down or destroyed as part of a concerted effort to take control of America’s food supply. Starting around April 20, conspiracy blogs and social media accounts began spreading lists of meat-packing plants, food processing facilities, cereal mills, and other buildings related to the packaging of food that had all mysteriously burned down or been destroyed."

The Daily Dot pushed the bogus conspiracy theory that Putin rigged the 2016 election.

I am not embracing the idea. I am not dismissing it either.

ITEM 3: The most important person I follow on Twitter is not Elon Musk. It is Christina Pushaw, the spokesgenius for Ron DeSantis.
I would like to see her run for her boss's job in 2026.

ITEM 4: Thomas Catenacci reported, "Renewable energy prices have skyrocketed while new wind and solar installations have plummeted over the last year, even as governments continue to forge ahead with ambitious climate plans.

"While the U.S., European Union, other Western nations and international organizations have all pursued aggressive climate agendas that involve expanding renewable energy technology and infrastructure, prices have surged and profits have declined, according to industry reports and corporate earnings reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation. President Joe Biden has made a series of climate pledges, including a commitment to decarbonize the grid by 2035 and achieve net-zero economy-wide emissions by 2050, while pushing a long list of anti-fossil fuel policies.

"Commodity markets tied to global renewable energy development have been roiled by inflation, supply chain issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and, more recently, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Even as project demand has stayed high, industry profitability has declined because of these factors."

Sustainable energy is unsustainable because government subsidy replaced profit as the motive.

We need to double electric generation in the next decade to accommodate all these electric vehicles.

Any suggestions?

ITEM 5: The Washington Examiner reported, "Special counsel John Durham is ramping up his efforts to get a judge to review documents shielded by attorney-client privilege claims from Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

"The prosecutor submitted a filing in federal court Monday pointing to a Federal Election Commission ruling that fined those Democrats for violating rules with the funding of research that became a central part of the effort to accuse Clinton's rival, Donald Trump, of collusion with Russia. The submission is part of the case against Michael Sussmann, a lawyer who was indicted in September for allegedly concealing his clients — Clinton's campaign and Tech Executive-1, Rodney Joffe — from FBI general counsel James Baker in September 2016 when he presented internet data that suggested a now-discredited back channel link between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa-Bank. Sussmann has pleaded not guilty."

Durham is starting to act like Broderick Crawford.

ITEM 6: NBC reported, "Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said Tuesday that a Supreme Court draft opinion circulated in February that suggests Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh would be among the majority of conservative justices to support overturning Roe v. Wade went against what they said during their confirmation hearings.

"'If this leaked draft opinion is the final decision and this reporting is accurate, it would be completely inconsistent with what Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh said in their hearings and in our meetings in my office,' Collins said in a statement released by her office."

Look for the Marxists to impeach the justices.

Fine. We'll impeach and remove of the Marxist justices in our turn at bat.

ITEM 7: In the Senate races, Real Clear Politics lists 7 tossup states. Republicans must take 4 to regain the Senate.

The Democrat states are: Arizona, Georgia, New Hampshire and Nevada. The Republican states are North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Tell me which state will flip if the court reverses Roe v. Wade.

I have been wrong before, but I cannot see abortion restrictions deciding any of those Senate races.

By the way, last night, J.D. Vance won the Ohio Republican primary for the open Senate seat. Trump rocks.

ITEM 8: Mary Ziegler of The Atlantic wrote, "The Conservatives Aren’t Just Ending Roe—They’re Delighting in It."

So?

ITEM 9: The squaw is on the warpath.

Reminds me of a 2-year-old being told NO!

ITEM 10: Post Millennial reported that Chief Justice John Roberts has directed the Marshal of the Supreme Court to investigate the leaking of the draft opinion on reversing Roe v. Wade.

Initial reports elsewhere said he called in the FBI.

The bureau is the last agency you should call because its agents lie to federal judges, hide evidence, entrap people, and generally ignore the law. The Marshal Service earned a better reputation because J. Edgar Hoover was never its leader.

ITEM 11: WaPo reported, "The original Roe v. Wade decision also was leaked to the press."

The story by James D. Robenalt said, "The Supreme Court clerk who leaked the story, Larry Hammond, told me about it when I interviewed him for my book January 1973: Watergate, Roe v. Wade, Vietnam, and the Month That Changed America Forever.

"Hammond clerked for Justice Lewis Powell and played an important role in convincing Powell that the viability standard (when a fetus could live outside the womb) was the most supportable line to draw in determining when a state may not regulate a woman’s right to an abortion. Powell privately convinced Justice Harry A. Blackmun and ultimately a 7-to-2 majority to adopt the viability standard, and that has been at the heart of Roe and later Casey, which now appear to be on the verge of being reversed."

Curiously, no one demanded the Roe leaker be drawn and quartered.

ITEM 12: Politico reported, "ABC News' Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl has tested positive for Covid-19, people familiar with the matter confirm, days after sitting next to Kim Kardashian at the White House Correspondents' Dinner and interacting with President Joe Biden."

Covid.

That may be the mildest thing anyone caught from her.

ITEM 13: The Washington Examiner reported, "A U.S. Capitol Police Officer has been suspended after firing a gun inside a House break room on Tuesday, prompting an investigation from the agency.

"The gun was discharged around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Cannon Office Building, and no injuries have been reported, according to officials. It’s not entirely clear whether the firing was an accident or intentional, and the USCP told the Washington Examiner that the officer would remain suspended while the incident is investigated."

Had the bullet struck and killed a Trump supporter, Pelosi would have given the officer a medal.

ITEM 14: Puck News reported, "The Chinese Had One Note on Spider-Man.

"Sony Pictures drew the line at editing out the Statue of Liberty (yes, really), as Hollywood studios reconsider acquiescing to Chinese censorship of American movies."

The story said, "Back at the end of 2021, Sony Pictures was stressing over whether Chinese regulators would allow Spider-Man: No Way Home into the country. The previous two Tom Holland Spideys, produced by Marvel Studios, had grossed $116 million and $200 million in China, respectively. So getting the film in, despite all the recent rejections of big-budget U.S. tentpoles, was a top priority for Sony’s leaders, Tony Vinciquerra and Tom Rothman."

The film grossed $1.9 billion without Red China.

ITEM 15: He asked, she answered.

Forget DeSantis. She should run.

So far, no PolitiFact fact-check has been posted. I guess that 9 PM deadline was a joke.

ITEM 16: The worm squirms.

The time for a man to pursue 16-year-old girls should end on his 18th birthday.

FINALLY, Democrats are talking about "codifying" the Roe v. Wade decision before the Supreme Court overturns it.

Writing a law is not how you overturn a Supreme Court decision.

There are four ways to do that. Ignore it as Jackson did with his Trail of Tears marches that stole Indian lands to give to Democrat slave-owners, who then built cotton plantations.

Or have a civil war as we did following Dred Scott.

Or pass a constitutional amendment as happened when the court struck down the federal income tax.

Or the fourth way: pray and work toward a court that will overturn separate-but-equal or, as was the case this time, abortion rights.

Next, overturn Kelo.
