I recently read a book about archeology in Central America. There are parasites endemic down there that will turn your life into hell and there are no good treatments. There are a lot of deadly things out there we have no immunity to. Who knows what is going to evolve with the exploding wood tick populations and Lyme disease. My personal theory is my father died of lyme disease. Untreated because it hadn't been discovered yet.
