In Mn caucus night is a social event to meet like-minded people. From the party's point of view it's a show to make you think you're actually participating.

The main (only) business at the precinct caucus is to pick delegates to the district convention. Anyone who wants to goes to that. The main (only) business of the district convention is to pick delegates to the county convention. You might have to put some effort into getting picked for that. The main (only)business at the county convention is to pick delegates to the state convention. Only party activists go there. And that is the only place anything real gets decided.
