Don't think any of the former stars of academia are more than a shadow of what they once were, even as recently as a few decades ago. True on both sides of the pond. American Ivy League & our best state universities have become hollowed out shells. Until the education system K thru Ph'd is rid of civilization destroying unions, administrators & textbooks, our nations will continue their rapid decline.
