If we really have a compelling interest in Ukraine, we should join the battle with our own troops. In effect, we have hired Ukraine to fight a war to weaken Russia at the cost of the destruction of the Ukraine we are "helping".
Very true. The excuse for staying out of the war “physically” is, presumably, the desire to avoid nuclear confrontation. But the involvement is so deep and intense that the lines are blurred. It appears, we’re giving the Ukrainians real time battle field intelligence - which allows them to attack high value targets, including the “Moskva” - and Generals.

About a couple of weeks ago I guesstimated the odds for a nuke blowout at 15-30% - plus add 1-2% for each week that the war continues. Imo, this still sounds about right. We’re increasingly likely to sleepwalk into a nuclear war out of sheer stupidity.
