for a number of years I soaked my factory chickens in water for up to 2 days in the refer.
it cleans out quite a bit of the chlorine & blood.. I don't think you'd be surprised by the color of the water that takes on.

I'm thinking I like the buttermilk to try. one of my favorite quick fix is to bone out the breast & skin, olive oil wash, salt & pepper, 375d or so, top rack of the oven.
when I wanted baked chicken, this was as good as it gets in such a short time.

I usually steam my veges, but started to use the broiler.. works especially well with cauliflower florets. same oil, salt & pepper.. but keep an eye on it from too much burning.
