I guess the major concern I would have for the proposed transaction is that China may not approve the deal. I think they won't want a US company to take control of a major Taiwanese company, because down the long term road China wants those Taiwanese companies to be Chinese, not American.

But maybe they can't decline a merger for that reason until the retake Taiwan. The buyer doesn't seem to think regulatory approvals will be an issue at all.
