Lets see. MXL is supposed to acquire SIMO for about $94 cash per share of SIMO PLUS 0.388 MXL stock per share of SIMO.

Anybody know how our "cost basis" in SIMO stock gets allocated after the deal is done? Like, if we have 1,000 shares of SIMO with $50 cost basis, what is our tax obligation after the deal closes? Does the newly issued 388 shares of MXL get any cost basis, or is the capital gain on the SIMO sale all realized in the cash portion of the deal, or or or.....what happens?

Anybody have any idea?
