Perhaps Oracle didnt want to take NT seriously for other reasons as well - by endorsing it over a year ago it would have validated NT as a midrange OS capable of doing the work mid range unix servers and mini's do today. Its a double edged sword - the market waits and sees for vendors to come out with applications - MSFT's publicity machine just about kills novell in the meantime and then vendors have to come out with apps because the market "demands" it. NT is MSFT's competition killing free ride into the enterprise so that it doesnt have to sell $89 copies of Microsoft Word forever and cheesy windows upgrades.
