>> But the underlying and critical element is a woman's standing to make a moral choice.

E. Warren become unhinged last week would suggest you're right -- it is about her. So, let's call it what it is -- a self-centered, egotistical attempt to burn it all down because you want what you want and you want it right now.

This issue is not the property of women. It doesn't define women.

It is an ancient, barbaric procedure that the whole world, except for us, seems to comprehend is on the way out.

The marginal flexibility by having a federal law on abortion in the US is minuscule. And it is a states' rights issue at this point. Alito shows that Roe v. Wade was improperly decided the first time around. Pacification of the Left is no justification for lousy law.
If a state or two gets it wrong -- which might happen it is a simple matter to drive to Colorado or St. Louis or Louisville wherever to get the services one needs. On the rare occurrence it is a real medical crisis for the mother, local doctors will still do it legally in every state.

Women in the United States will adapt to making fast decisions.

So, if it is for the purpose of reserving some power for themselves, women should prefer a statue in their honor.

Like everything else, it seems this is a symbolic gesture rather than a real need. Those of us who are/have been pro-choice for years now see other approaches that will solve the problem and that don't come with any of the bad stuff abortions entail, believe it is time stop with the barbarism and move toward more acceptable alternatives. I can name half a dozen women who, until this day, are still fucked up in the head about having chosen to abort a baby they never really wanted they got from a guy who damned sure never wanted it. Maybe it was their choice, but they didn't like living with it forever.
