No, they saw land and vast resources of energy wealth and made up a reason to invade. Otherwise, why all the subterfuge? If a Superpower like America is about to invade, we make it clear why and don’t hide the reasons beneath lies about military practice exercises with “no intend to invade”. Then invade a much smaller militarily capable country. We gave Saddam 90 days to get out of Kuwait. He refused to believe.
