I agree that the upfront payments were disappointing. However, I think this means that bidders believe only the big cities are valuable and don't want to waste money bidding on a large number of small markets. This makes sense, given that LMDS is primarily designed for businesses, most of which reside in the big cities. The big cities ARE valuable and will be well bid. There is no way that L.A. will go for less than $25 per pop. Hang in there. I am.
