I love Portugal, but I know I could never speak Portuguese like a native. If I can't do that, I can't consider the place as a place I'd want to put down roots. I understand how the Portuguese feel. It is their country and to have it overwhelmed by expats with more money than people who were born in the country is awful. Same problem in Barcelona. I love Barcelona, but the Catalonian anger would not be something I would want to deal with.
