>>> Siemens Telecom Networks To Demonstrate Competitive Solutions At CompTel 98
Business Wire - February 09, 1998 10:14
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1998--Whether the goal is to provide a broad range of telecom services or fill a targeted niche, Siemens Telecom Networks will offer a full range of competitive solutions for new and emerging service providers at the CompTel 98 Convention & Exposition, scheduled for Feb. 9-12 at Bally's Resort & Casino.
Visitors to the new Siemens booth (No. 510) at CompTel (Competitive Telecommunications Association) will benefit from a complement of displays, audiovisual demonstrations and written materials that will illustrate how Siemens can help today's service providers increase offerings and build revenues. CompTel is the principal industry association of more than 200 long distance telecommunications carriers and their suppliers.
"Our goal is to help the industry's service providers capitalize on the many opportunities in this growing market," said Fred Fromm, president and CEO of Siemens Telecom Networks. "We offer consulting services, equipment, systems integration, and even assistance with marketing and promotion to help our customers define and implement total solutions that meet their business objectives."
A range of solutions for local and long-distance switching, access, transport, network management and the Internet will be demonstrated at the Siemens exhibit. Highlights include:
Local and Long Distance Switching Solutions
Siemens' DCOTM switch is ideal for serving suburban and rural areas and provides an efficient and economical solution for competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) seeking to enter switched, integrated services markets. Using Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) features, service providers can offer custom services such as debit card, international call back and personalized number services.
Siemens' EWSDTM switch is a versatile, feature-rich system that can be deployed as an end office switch, a long distance switch, a combined end/office/access tandem/Personal Communication Service (PCS) switch, or any combination of functions desired on a single platform. The EWSD switch is one of the most successful switches in the world with more than 150 million lines installed.
AIN Service Creation and Deployment
A Fast Feature Platform(TM) (FFP) system shows how premium services can be rapidly customized and brought to market using AIN technology. Using Siemens' INventor(TM) Service Creation Environment, users can create and simulate new services and then transfer them to the FFP. This gives service providers a means of differentiating their offering and staying ahead of the competition.
Connectivity Via Digital Line Unit
A digital line unit (DLU), located outside the host office, provides the interface to subscriber lines and moves call processing functions closer to subscriber communities. Line types can be modified by changing the line card in the DLU, which maximizes flexibility.
ADSL High-Speed Data Access
An interactive end-user application features ADSL technology to demonstrate the high-speed data access capabilities of XpressLink(TM), one of Siemens' full line of access products. Visitors can see the exceptional speed and quality of video images transferred via ADSL technology for applications featuring electronic commerce and real-time delivery of MPEG-2 encoded video clips.
Internet Solutions
The Internet Solutions Business Unit of Siemens Telecom Networks offers a specialized solution for service providers to enable them to become Internet service providers (ISPs). The highly integrated ISP solution provides telecom quality, central office reliability for dial up and lease IP connections to the Internet as well as web server and hosting support.
Transport Solutions
A global leader in transport technology, Siemens has entered the North American market to develop and market products that carry standardized signal formats over various distances for all transport market segments, including local, core and ultra-high capacity long distance. With extensive expertise and resources dedicated to synchronous digital hierarchy/synchronized optical network technology and photonics, Siemens is developing the capability to transmit higher and higher bandwidths over long distances.
Network Management - Automated Flow-Through Provisioning
The ServiceCoordinator(TM) system automatically provisions the service from end to end, whether carriers are offering telephony, wireless, cable or Internet service. This customized business tool provides automated support of all service management function areas with the touch of a button, including billing.
