I am rather disappointed and puzzled.

First, did they meet expectations? I never did get a firm grasp on what the expected numbers were...too many conflicting analysis (outstanding vs. diluted; Yahoo vs. Analysts, etc.). Can someone tell me what the Analysts expectations were and whether or not SPNSF met them? Based on todays gap up and early action, I assumed they met the numbers and thought things were looking pretty bright. Did the selling start right after the conference call? I didn't get a chance to listen in, but the daily chart sure shows a dramatic turnaround shortly after the conference call. Was it that bad? I wonder who thought it bad enough to start dumping large positions?

As for the acquisition announcement, I am really pi$$ed. Not so much by the fact that they purchased a private firm which they have a long term relationship with, but mainly from the timing of it. Why the hell did they announce this move 1 minute prior to earnings announcement? It doesn't sound like it will really make that much of a difference to the bottom line (factoring in additional shares for the purchase against additional revenues). If they met expectations, why not take advantage of some additional investors and price movement before announcing a purchase. Don't acquisitions usually hurt the price short-term? I think this was a completely bone-headed move (timing wise) by management.

So I'm puzzled, was the price decline due to only meeting numbers or because of the acquisition? I don't think we'll ever really know, but I am interested in your opinions.
