Its one reason I didn't go back to grad school for my PhD after college. There was a dearth of tenure-track positions in Anthropology, the ranks were projected to be depleted even further by attrition as boomers retired, and to get tenure you have to publish, publish, publish.

Its why a lot of journal articles are absolute rubbish. I read a lot of dreck in college like Marxian analysis of an archaeological excavation of a pre-Columbian settlement in Peru. Like, what? Hundred pages of nonsense.
