More thoughts on MMG:

I just spent more time looking at MMG's web site. Although I think the design leaves something to be desired, the contents are worth poring over. A couple of things that struck me - Snapper is gone. I couldn't find a single reference to this chunk of the company which makes me think it could be gone soon. Corning wants to get rid of their housewares business, maybe they could merge the two and call it Home & Garden, Inc. At any rate, the other thing that struck me is how their story compares to WinStar's. Both companies have fixed wireless as an integral part of their strategy. The economies that can be realized using this approach as opposed to laying cable should not be underestimated. Another thing that struck me is the amount of potential that exists. A less than 1% penetration rate for cellular subscribers in China. That's a whole lot of customers that are not signed up yet. The US has a 19% rate, but even if a realistic penetration rate in China is a lot lower than the US, in absolute numbers it still represents a big customer base. I see that MMG picked up another 1/4 today. I wish I had a lot of extra cash right now because something makes me think that the time to accumulate is now. I still think the big returns are a long way out but I think MMG is showing up on more and more radar screens.
