The reasons I said I felt "compelled" to speak were as follows:
I saw people spending considerable time designing clever posts to do nothing more than "kick" the other person. This is time that could be used constructively, but instead is wasted fighting on a financial newsgroup.
An attempt to interject a little moderation, since insults are exchanged freely when you cannot see the other persons face. We are in fact talking to other humans :) The downside of technology is the way it allows us to feel "connected" when we're really socially isolated.
An additional attempt to get the posters on this thread to think about human communication. Unless you have cataracts, you place more emphasis on body language and voice inflection to comprehend the true meaning of statements than you do the words spoken. In a forum like this, you need to allow some leeway, and give the poster the benefit of the doubt since misinterpretation is all too easy.
I was also trying to "knock some of the wind out of the sails" by giving an objective opinion. You've been trading punches, and theres no end in sight! And honestly, all this negative stuff bums me out, and I thought maybe I could help.
I am not joining the general assault, and hope you don't take it that way. My personal needs are satisfied in real life, not in front of my keyboard.
I didn't try the private mail function, because I didn't know it even existed. I haven't posted for a while, so I apologize if I said anything embarrassing. I mean it. I also want you to know I wasn't being cynical in my last statement. I will be the first to agree I'm not the best at putting my thoughts into text.
I'm sending this post so I can explain to everyone the reasons behind my previous post. I have no hidden agenda.
