We are still immune to smallpox. My question remains. Does that immunity apply to monkeypox? I guess so because cowpox was the original way smallpox vaccination was found. Milkmaids exposed to cowpox didn't get smallpox. Cowpox was used for vaccination originally.

I guess that monkeypox, smallpox and cowpox are closely related. Near enough.

There's overlap with related infections. So recent corona virus infections help protect against covid apparently. They have some of the same proteins.

I still have my vaccination record = a little booklet documenting smallpox vaccination that we needed to travel in 1974.

In 1974 we were told that immunity was permanent. The scar from the innoculation on my left top arm has lasted. As has my tuberculosis scar = even more so which was from childhood.

2 of my great grandparents died from tuberculosis aged 34 and 36 in the 19th century in Peckham, London. As did one of their 2 sons after their 4 children were shipped to New Zealand with their aunt Mary. Life was tough back then. They were not worried about pronouns or people being mean in social media.

Edit = The US government has placed an $119m order with Bavarian Nordic for the Jynneos vaccine, which is effective against both the Monkeypox virus and Smallpox, the biotech company revealed.

So I'm already immune. So hahaha to you monkeys. You don't get me like that.
