IMO there are quite a few people who have already given up on the market. Maybe some of the Robinhood traders, as well as others who monitor their portfolios and watch them decrease in value have already given up on the market. I know someone who sold his entire IRA portfolio in the market in December, and right now he looks like he made a good decision. (He is an artist, but closely follows the market). Some of the more wealthy investors are not traders, and they have full time jobs or projects that demand their time and attention, and they don’t depend on their stock market investments for their income. These investors probably rarely sell, but evaluate their portfolio maybe once a year? After the dot com meltdown, hopefully there are fewer investors who are recklessly using Margin. This could be another indication of losing interest in the market…. -
