You might as well blame a snake for having fangs or a lion for being a carnivore. GS is one of the best firms on Wall St and they got to that spot on the basis of high ethics both for their staff and their clients. This doesn't mean that they don't do wrong. But ironically, I have found industries that most people associate with "vile" such as porn, Hollywood, or Wall St, to have far more integrity than the average business.
