Yes, I also noticed this - not really clear why it’s so easy to defend on a flat terrain. Unless, maybe it’s easier to use hand held ant-tank and anti-armored vehicles weapons?

As for HIMARS, not sure what the deal was. I think the Russians got very upset, refused to accept Ukraines assurances that they wouldn’t use them against targets in Russia. Last I heard, the transfer of those weapons to Ukraine is on hold.
