| | | New York Democrats Are Enjoying Contested Primaries And They're Not Enjoying Them Very Much

John Sexton writes about the upcoming primary between two already-serving -- and very long-serving -- Democrat congressgrifters, Jerry Nadler and Carolyn Maloney. For years and years, gerrymandering kept them in separate fiefdoms, Maloney on the Upper East Side and Nadler on the Upper West Side, even though that increasingly made little geometric sense.
The New York courts threw out the Democrats' latest, most brazen gerrymander (or Jerry-mander, as some call it), and a special master drew up a more rational, more geometrically sensible map, which merged the Upper West and Upper East sides into one congressional district, pitting Nadler and Maloney against each other in a primary.
Sexton excerpts the New York Times about the civil war:
[N]either Mr. Nadler nor Ms. Maloney has wasted any time working the phones to pressure union leaders, old political allies and wealthy donors -- many of whom the two have shared for years -- to pick sides. Allies of Ms. Maloney whispered doubts about Mr. Nadler's health. (His aides say his health is good.) Mr. Nadler's associates circulated old news articles about Ms. Maloney's obsession with pandas, and suggested that Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is officially neutral in the race, really preferred him.
The pandas reference is not anything weird; she just wants to ride a panda's face. No but seriously, she wants to bring pandas to the Central Park Zoo, which would cost millions, and, you know, put money in the pockets of her Chinese Communist Crony pals.
As for the gibe about Jerry Nadler's health problems -- Health problems? Get out of here with health problems. He looks like a total health nut!
People may remember this old video clip -- in which he coincidentally name-checks his current opponent Carolyn Maloney -- and then moves gingerly in a very deliberate side-stepping way which many people believed indicated he'd pooped his pants and was moving with utmost caution so as to not to dislodge it from his underwear and send the load tumbling down his trousers on to the floor.
For those of you who are having trouble imagining that, this youtuber has added sound effects that might assist you in visualizing the scenario I'm trying to sketch for you.
There's another big fight going on for the new 17th District, and, because it involves a black representative, the fight was immediately racialized by Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries.
Mondaire Jones, who is black, and Sean Patrick Maloney, who is white, are both sitting congressmen who are now both living in the territory of the new 17th district.
Maloney announced he would be running in the 17th, as opposed to moving to one of the other new districts and running there, and Mondaire Jones cried foul, claiming he was owed a heads up.
By Monday night, it was apparent just how ugly it could get, as Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.) made clear what he thought of neighboring Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney's decision to declare a run for a district made up of more of Jones' turf.
"Sean Patrick Maloney did not even give me a heads up before he went on Twitter to make that announcement," Jones said. "And I think that tells you everything you need to know about Sean Patrick Maloney."
I... guess? I mean, yeah, he should have called. But then you just would have jumped out to be first to announce, right?
Here's a wrinkle: Maloney is in the leadership of the Democrat National Campaign Committee, heading up the campaign arm, and Democrats are grousing that someone in leadership should not be so eager to head-hunt his followers.
Silly Democrats, that's what makes them "leaders."
Maloney, the chair of House Democrats' campaign arm, announced he will be seeking reelection in the new seat, which includes Putnam and Rockland counties and parts of Westchester County, because it includes his home of Cold Spring, N.Y. The decision came less than hour after the map was made public, drawing complaints from some in the delegation, particularly given Maloney's high-profile party leadership role. Maloney's allies, meanwhile, argued there was no reason for him to have to move his family into a new seat.Hakeem Jeffries decided that the map was unacceptable because it was tainted by White Hands:
The special master's proposal released early Monday afternoon roiled the Democratic caucus. Multiple Democrats called it an affront to established communities of interest, particularly diverse communities in New York City. House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries released a digital ad slamming the map.
"The draft map released by a Judicial Overseer in Steuben County and unelected, out-of-town Special Master, both of whom happen to be white men, is part of a vicious national pattern targeting districts represented by members of the Congressional Black Caucus," he said in a statement Monday.
You know, most white people and black people don't have any problem with each other. There are some low-level grousings, and that's about it.
But then "leaders" like Hakeem come along and set about inflaming racial hatred.
You know, Hakeem, you're not going to be able to keep pushing anti-white hatred without whites feeling a bit of anti-black hatred in return. Is that what you're going for? I mean, that would justify your toxic race-hustler politics. That would help you win elections.
But Hakeem, what happens if the 62% white majority follows your lead and takes the position that anything done by blacks is tainted and illegitimate? What if whites routinely start noting the Racial Taint of anything fashioned by black hands?
Meanwhile, this is the same guy deliberately putting the Supreme Court justices' lives in danger by refusing to schedule a vote for extending federal police protection to them. Even during this period of extremely elevated threat. The Senate passed this unanimously -- Hakeem Jeffries refuses to even have a vote on it.
He likes them being threatened. He likes the possibility that there might be an attempt on a Justice's life.
Hakeem Jeffries should start wondering about the chickens he's breeding and wondering when they might come home to roost.
