Keep in mind Russia has only 150 million people, more or less:

On its own Russia has little to offer in the modern world than control of natural resources.

USSR was once in the ultra-big league in population and a lot more besides. But Russia is still a serious achiever in space technology.

Russia is just a largish country now by population: worldometers.info 9th.

Since russian is no use as a language outside Russia, unlike english, and it's cold and spread out vastly, it's not a particularly attractive place for migrants.

If we believe the Climate Alarmists, Russia will benefit from the Greenhouse Effect, aka Global Warming. I don't believe them. Cold remains our biggest problem. On average. Human breeding is mostly done in hot climates because it's conducive to human living.

We all have to play second fiddle to others - it's the nature of having customers and co-operative relationships. The old days of Ultimate Rulers of unbounded power are gone other than in a few barbarian places. So Russia will be happy to co-operate with those who are not actively aggressive, irrespective of who is first fiddle and who second.

I suppose your chess ranking reference means something. Apparently chess has become more popular in many other countries so champions have shown up in various other places. Russia was chess central for decades until good old Bobby Fisher nuked Kasparov and co. Bobby Fisher was amazing = a Cassius Clay type talent, like Roger Federer, Eldrick Woods, Michael Jordan, Albert Einstein, Irwin Jacobs = special people show up not all that often. Note, no women. None in your chess list either. Cognitive power is a special thing in the tippiest toppest zone, and women can't achieve it. Same for many other identitarian groups.

Oh yes, women are battered creatures, hit in the head by a glass ceiling. Wicked men stopping them thinking. Or, women mature 3 years younger on average and lack testosterone so are not insanely competitive and have 20% less brain development time than males who get 15 years instead of 12. Brain development time matters in cognitive function. As does brain design = male and female brains have different design. It shows from infancy.

So, suppose you have twins born, male and female, with identical genes other than one gets the XX and one gets the XY. Raised as equal as possible. One has a fully grown brain by age 15 [the female] and one by 18 [the male]. That's how brain growth works. Or, we could measure wisdom teeth completion which is better correlated with brain development completion. They are called wisdom teeth for a reason.

Boys get another 3 years of learning and are introduced to calculus and physics and chemistry while their brains are still immature. Girls on the other hand are not shown calculus, physics, chemistry any earlier than boys, so they are disadvantaged = you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

But girls get a big advantage in competing for university places and other such positions because they meet the challenge with a bigger mature brain - a 3 year advantage over male competitors. Big brains make a big difference.

That selection bias has big consequences = dumb women get the education while smarter men don't, because they were eliminated because their brains were too young. Discrimination!!!!

Girls miss out on learning new tricks young. Boys miss out on access to opportunities. Fortunately, the super smarts get in to any opportunities anyway so it's not that the world throws away the very best and maximal brightest.
