We don't know where we're going but we're on our way. We [or more precisely, those alive in a thousand years] will learn the sustainable end-state when they get to it.
I have difficulty seeing the sustainable end-state that is not-a-mess

Even while people meditate, everything around them is moving very fast. And in them. We are theoretically at the end state in every instant. Getting there is half the fun. I suppose "end-state" could mean = no more shooting in the area that was called Ukraine in Y2K for a period of 1 year.

After 1000 years, the end-state might not be sustainable. Physics seems a bit in the Goedelian self-referential zone. Speed of light and anything are measured by time and distance. Distance is measured by time to get there. Time is measured by respective positions aka distance. In a gravitational field, distance is varied along with time. The speed of light is kind of constant, except that it isn't because gravitational field has a say. A puzzle.

In the short run [beginning of 2023] I guess the end-state will be Russia in charge of Donetsk/Luhansk etc region. Heck maybe all or most of Ukraine since why not as NATO will just move in to any part not taken over. But the further west Russia goes, the greater the resistance, until meeting a hard border at Poland with American tanks and rockets parked there. And in Norway. And the Baltic countries. Etc.

Biden did give permission, before the invasion, for Russia to get involved in Ukraine a bit = though his managers did try to say he misspoke.

I still think the Special Military Operation to support Donbas independence as 2 or 3 new countries will be the outcome and end-state. with Crimea and the canal remaining Russian. Mariupol etc Russian too probably since won fair and square.
