Meditation is not about what is happening outside or how unpleasant it is. Meditation is about how you deal with it. For all that matters, you can be in a lot of physical pain and meditate on that pain. I've personally done it. I had a dozen stitches in my hand and then I fell down face plant and instinctively put my arms out to catch my fall. And my thoughts were, "Wow, pain is such a sobering experience! I can feel my heart beat in the throbs of my hand."

The nature of the experience doesn't matter. It is what you do with it that does.
