I stand behind my assessment about Amati being only a US niche player. There is always a chance for a surprise, but tell me which RBOC will be giving AMTX a contract?

Internationally, Westell is in China, is Amati? What Asian countries is Amati likely to be getting contracts? European contracts? Which ones?

Even Techie was alarmed that Amati was not getting named in US trials being announced in August and September. The Alcatel deal shows the weakness of Amati's position. This doesn't say it is a loser of a company or a bad play. What it says is that it might not be the explosive home run win many here have believe it to be.

"Might not be"; that is cautious wording. You can't know the future, but with the best info. available today, this is the best assessment of the current situation. You are so pro-Amati, you may be missing the point.

It kills me, the attitude on this thread. I am often told emphatically that I am spreading lies and misinformation. Then when I am backed up by future outcomes supporting my statements, you all jump on me for saying "I told you so"; it is impossible!

j rector, read the NUKO thread and read the Alcatel/NUKO partnership for using ADSL for VOD and watch what the RBOC consortium does with ADSL. You don't have to believe me; watch what ends up happening and yes; I will be right back here shoving it in your face!

Bell Atlantic; I know all about there statement. You MAY be drawing incorrect conclusions. Bell Atlantic is taking the long position the most seriously and focusing on the rewards of going fiber. It was on this thread that you all endlessly quoted that FTTC wasn't going to happen for 40 years and who was it that disagreed? How quickly we forget.

More from the KT talk; the ADSL ATM deployment will require a PC ATM card and it will be ATM at the desktop. There has been much talk about whether this was likely.

You like to debate all the facts endlessly. What I do am interested in is figuring out who is the best play. If Westell hits $24; it is a great investment bargin and a real opportunity. Even if the market tanks, how much lower will it go? How fast will AMTX drop if the market tanks? Which would you buy today?
