More on the guesscast from Smart Money:

The worst news from Dataquest's report is that the research
outfit thinks it may have to cut its industry sales estimate
again before the year is out. The firm's final 1998 forecast
for the semiconductor industry is scheduled for April.
Dataquest has also predicted that the semiconductor
equipment industry should see a flat year in 1998, mostly
due to the volatility in Asian markets.

Semiconductors, one of our favorite sectors for the year (see
"Where to Invest in 1998"), are up 23% year-to-date. Many
analysts think the Asia effect is already discounted in these
stocks and that, despite some bumps, they will perform
strongly as 1998 unfolds.
