The Jan 6 hearing was a huge dud. TV ratings are critically important because this was a circus, a Soviet show trial.

The hearing garnered ABC and NBC about half as many viewers as their nightly newscasts. Overall, the hearing got half as many viewers as the State of the Union broadcast.
